The Siren's Song Gallery was conceived with the purpose of introducing a new arena in which to become familiar with the world of prints. It will be a working studio. Through exhibitions, demonstrations and salon style talks, I hope to pique the collectors’ interest in printmaking. The gallery will exhibit my personal vision, and the works of my friends; contemporary artists working in the mediums of etching, aquatint, lithography, silk screen, woodblock, linocut, photo etching, monoprint and computer generated prints. Prints are a form of original art, perfected by the Japanese in their woodblocks, Toulouse Lautrec in his lithos, and by major contemporary artists such as Chuck Close and Kiki Smith. The “Sirens’ Song” will present prints in the form of books, 3D sculptural images, items that are functional, as well as flat ready to frame art. Artists from the US and around the world will be invited to participate along with me in exhibiting at the “Sirens’ Song”. I hope to exhibit exciting, experimental and traditional works, in various forms of multiples.
The gallery has been interviewed twice by Bonnie Grice of WLIU. On June 14, 2007 there was a telephone interview about Sirens’ Song, and it’s artist/ director Caroline Waloski in relation to The Greenport Art Gallery Walk. Another interview was held at the radio studio on July 10, 2007 about the opening of Susanna Bergtold’ s exhibit, … & the Music Goes Round & Round, also mentioning other artists represented, Barbara Yoshida and Anneli Arms . The exhibitions of Yoshida and Bergtold have been permanently archived at Rutgers University in conjunction with the Feminist Art Project.
