  • Halyard Restaurant: Chef’s Table @ The Halyard: Oysters (cooking class) Greenport. The Halyard @ Sound View Greenport host its first bi-monthly cooking demonstration and class with Chef Galen Zamarra. Join us for “How to prepare Oysters” demonstration in The Halyard Library. $35per person / $25 for Hotel guests…includes some light bites and a glass of wine.   • Moustache Brewery: Forgotten Oats Can Release Riverhead. Join us for the release of Forgotten Oats, brewed in collaboration with our friends from Indian Ladder Farms! We brewed this beer with barley, oats, and hops grown on their family farm in Altamont, NY.Forgotten Oats is orange in color, with a slight haze, notes of tangerine in the aroma and flavor, soft bitterness, smooth mouthfeel from the oats. In additional to Forgotten Oats, we will have several ciders from Indian Ladder on tap as well. 3 pm. Details.

Since her retirement as an art teacher at Mattituck High School, Lee Harned has focused on her own work as well as continuing to teach in her Laurel studio.   • Greenport Harbor Brewing Company: Artist Michele Dragonetti “Against the Current”, Greenport. On Saturday, September 16, 2017, Greenport Harbor Brewing Company will host a reception for the opening of their new exhibition, “Against the Current,” featuring the photography of Michele Dragonetti. Splitting her time between Manhattan and Amagansett, Michele Dragonetti’s photos primarily focus on the hulls of maritime vessels, capturing them from a looming vantage that highlights their symmetry and geometry. 7-9pm.   • Baiting Hollow Farm Vineyard: 2017 Wines & Canines Walk/Run Calverton. Join us for our annual Wines & Canines Walk/Run for homeless dogs at the Kent Animal Shelter from 11AM to 2PM at the Baiting Hollow Vineyard, 2114 Sound Avenue in Baiting Hollow! Enjoy North Fork wine & farm country during peak harvest season. Get in a beautiful walk or run, meet other pet families, and try your luck at the prize auction and 50-50 raffle! Dress your pet for the pet costume contest and the people/pet lookalike contest. 8 am – 1 pm. Details.
  • Indian Island: Healing Heart 5K Riverhead. The Healing Heart 5K hopes to raise awareness that heart disease is the number one killer of men and women across the country and here on Long Island. The event creates a culture of health and physical activity, giving families the opportunity to participate in heart healthy activities together. Day of event registration begins at 8:00 a.m., with the fun run for children 10 and under beginning at 9:45 a.m. and the 3.1 mile off road race beginning at 10:00 a.m. Following the race, the awards ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. with awards being given to the top male and female runners along with the top runners in various age categories. A health expo will also be available during the event open to all participants. 8 am – 1 pm. Details.
