Historic Battles and Buildings, Lots of Live Music and Art, Barrel Tasting at Lieb Cellars, Stargazing

This weekend history, live music and the visual arts predominate. A special exhibit about a War of 1812 naval battle fought off Long Island's coast revives forgotten history; historic buildings open for the summer season; amateur radio enthusiasts participate in an annual nationwide event on the grounds of the always-worth-a-visit historic Horton's Point Lighthouse. Musicians play up and down the fork, offering a wide range of styles. A sculpture garden installation opens, as does an exhibit at an artist's open studio.  A winery hosts the LI Arts Show. Many exhibits are ongoing. If Saturday night's clear, be sure to check out the stars with the folks at Custer Observatory--the moon will be miniscule, so if the clouds cooperate you should have great viewing. Thirsty? Then check out Lieb Cellars's annual Barrel Tasting & Future event.
