Kick off the Greenport Maritime Festival Friday night at the Land & Sea Gala – food, dancing and auctions to benefit the EESM. Saturday check out the Maritime and Merry Merfolk parades in Greenport, and a host of other maritime festival activities from 10am-9pm. Beer lovers should head to LI Hops in Riverhead for the Long Island Fresh Hops Festival on Saturday. Sunday take a special three hour cruise of Lighthouses with Peconic Star or check out the Pirate Brunch on Front Street. Maritime Festival closes Sunday PM with announcements for contest winners and raffles.

  • Greenport Maritime Festival Greenport. The annual Greenport Maritime Festival is hosted by the East End Seaport & Marine Foundation in partnership with the Village of Greenport. The Festival begins on Friday night with the Land and Sea Gala cocktail party. Saturday morning’s parade through downtown Greenport kicks off the festival, followed by grand displays of classic wooden boats, kayak races, demonstrations of high tech water sports, wood carving and model ship building, music, delicious food, high end artisanal vendors, children’s activities, fresh oysters, craft beers and local wines. The evening brings music and dancing in Mitchell Park and screenings of original movies. Sunday morning there is a children’s breakfast shared with mermaids and pirates, more family friendly activities throughout the village, and old fashioned games in Mitchell Park. 10am -5 pm. Details.
  • Merry Merfolk Parade & Marine Meadows Workshop, Greenport. The Sirens' Song Gallery and Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program, with the support of the Greenport BID, take pleasure in presenting The Merry Merfolk Parade. The goal of the event is to raise awareness of marine habitat, specifically eelgrass meadows, where our local sea creatures reside. This essential habitat serves as nursery, spawning, and foraging grounds for a wide variety of finfish, shellfish, and merfolk! 11 am -1 pm Details.
  • Maritime Festival Parade, Greenport. The 28th annual Maritime Festival parade, sponsored by Southold Local, will kick off at 11:00 a.m. on the corner of Broad and north Main Street. After few welcoming words by Greenport Village Mayor George Hubbard and the National Anthem performed by Roselle Borrelli, the parade will begin its march down Main Street passing the reviewing stand and head west onto Front Street. 11 am -12 pm Details.
  • Long Island Fresh Hop Festival, Riverhead. join some of Long Island’s finest breweries, at LI Hops (located at Plant Connection 5873 Sound Avenue, Riverhead NY), where you’ll be able to taste versions of fresh hop beers alongside the traditional version of the same beer. These fresh hop infused beers are special limited-edition versions of your favorite local beers--many of which are not available to the general public. Brewers will be there to explain how their creations came to life, and how they chose what beers to fresh hop. You'll also be able to try local pumpkin ales, oktoberfests and a variety of other styles. 12:30– 4 pm. Details.

Splitting her time between Manhattan and Amagansett, Michele Dragonetti’s photos primarily focus on the hulls of maritime vessels, capturing them from a looming vantage that highlights their symmetry and geometry. 7-9pm.
