Winterfest Goes Live!

This weekend the live music madness of Winterfest: Live on the Vine gets underway. As the festival website trumpets, over the six weeks of concerts, 19 venues will feature 128 performances. Those on the North Fork proper--Route 105 East--are highlighted below, but check the festival website for acts in Riverhead and on the North Shore too. Winterfest isn't the only fun to be had this weekend, though it provides more options than anyone could enjoy at once. Wineries offer special tastings and other non-musical experiences as well, and Friday three interesting matinee films run. Add to that the chance to stargaze Saturday night, and it's easy to put together a really wonderful weekend no matter how much snow Mother Nature gifts us with.

The Highlights

Food, Farm & Vineyard

Barrel tastings, palm readings, tours, a painting party, and an Italian feast with 'Grandma'--all options for vineyard fun, above and beyond the many concerts of Live on the Vine this weekend.

Live Music

This weekend is the first of six that's choc-a-bloc full of outstanding musical acts, otherwise known as Winterfest, Live on the Vine. That said, live music plays at venues not part of the festival, and some festival venues are offering shows in addition to the festival ones.

Visual, Performing & Literary Arts

While live music dominates this week's arts scene, some galleries are open and Friday offers a few interesting matinee films.
